Rx Remedy Acquires Utah Health Informatics to Create Highly Personalized Healthcare Solutions

WESTPORT, Conn., and SALT LAKE CITY, June 15 — Rx Remedy, Inc. said today it has completed the acquisition of Utah Health Informatics (UHI) to create a new division called HealthSCOUT Informatics. The two companies have worked together over the past year to provide highly personalized health information and connectivity services to consumers. This new division will provide both Rx Remedy’s and UHI’s client base with a valuable combination of content and technology.

HealthSCOUT Informatics enables the company to personalize health information based on a consumer’s needs and preferences. And, in general, it brings each consumer the best medical knowledge to interactively, simply and conveniently support his or her health- and disease-management efforts.

"We are excited to become a part of Rx Remedy and see tremendous opportunities to accelerate the development of our existing portfolio of informatics tools," said Omar Bouhaddou, President of Utah Health Informatics. "The art and science of informatics, combined with Rx Remedy’s technology and vast distribution network, means that we can leverage our strengths for the benefit of a much larger number of clients and consumers."

UHI has developed a proprietary web-based survey engine that can work interactively to facilitate the use of a variety of health-management tools, including general and disease-specific health assessments (e.g., women’s health, men’s health, mental health, nutrition, and pets health), quizzes (e.g., heart health risk factors), calculators (e.g., ideal body weight, calories burned), polls, and surveys.

Rx Remedy plans to integrate these products and capabilities into its current offerings to other consumer web sites through HealthSCOUT and to health-plan and employer clients through DoHealth. The company also plans to offer its Health-Life Services to UHI’s current clients.

"HealthSCOUT Informatics will enhance the breadth and depth of our health and wellness management tools, thus making them more personalized and useful," said Karamjeet Paul, Chairman & CEO of Rx Remedy, Inc. "We will now be able to offer our clients and consumers a broader menu of e-health tools to support health and disease management and to facilitate the exchange of important information among healthcare partners."

UHI’s current customers include Bristol-Myers Squibb, American Home Products, A.D.A.M., Rexall, PlanetRx, Vitamins.com, Staywell, Cigna, Wampole.ca (Canada) and Health Care Net (Japan).
